Description Tav Krey'lon is a young Bothan who grew
tired of the endless covert maneuvering on his
homeworld. After persuading a visiting trader to allow
him to hitch a ride off-world, Tav realized he had a
knack for persuading others. He quickly made himself
useful to the merchant, helping to negotiate tough deals
and talking the pair out of many dangerous situations. In
the end, the merchant was willing to loan Tav the money
to buy himself a ship, and thus the Bothan's own
mercantile career began.

I think I like ship-modding and space battles the most in this version of the game. I'll probably use this character as a quasi NPC during my Rebellion-era game.
It would be great if I could pass the reigns on to someone else from time to time, too (you know who you are).
As a player character, Tav still owes quite a bit of money on his ship. As per the Wealthy Benefactors section (page 9) of Starships of the Galaxy, Tav must give up half of any adventure rewards he may earn until the ship's cost has been paid off (23,000 credits, in this case). Any additional money he acquires can also be directed toward paying back the loan, but is not required.
